Belarus as a welcoming host
The Belarusian Ice Hockey Association (BIHA) organizes several traditional events annually, most notably: the Christmas Cup, the Polesie Cup and the Hockey Festival.
Christmas Cup
2005-2009 – The Christmas Cup, an old-timer hockey tournament, that has been welcoming each year up to twelve teams from all over the world to participate in an event that offers a great cultural experience along with hockey.
Polesie Cup
2007-2009 – The Polesie Cup, held in the cities of Gomel and Zhlobin, has hosted national teams from Denmark, France, Latvia, Slovenia, Ukraine as well as clubs from Canada and Russia in the three years of its existence. The tournament is a fan favourite with most games sold out.
Hockey Festival
2008 – The Hockey Festival dedicated to the IIHF’s Centennial Anniversary. It included events throughout the whole country over a span of 10 days and attracted participants from over 15 countries. Most notably there were an old-timer and two junior international team tournaments taking place in Minsk and Bobruisk. While all games were well attended, the final game of the U-18 event in Bobruisk stood out as the fan favorite with a sold out crowd of 8000 spectators.
