Transport infrastructure

Situated on the crossing of the strategic routes from West to East and from North to South, from Moscow to Warsaw and from Kiev to Vilnius, Minsk is a large transport hub with several bus terminals, a railway station, two airports and a metro network.

Minsk National Airport, opened in 1982, is located 42 km to the east of the city. It is an international airport with new flights opening every year.

Minsk is the only city in Belarus with an underground metro system. The first line with 8 stations was opened in 1984. Since then it has expanded into two lines which are 33 km long with 25 stations.
