The City of Minsk
Minsk is a modern rapidly developing European metropolis notable for its efficient economy, impressive construction pace, low crime rate, good-minded and hospitable people. The capital city is a major transport center of the Republic; it stands on the crossroads of railroads connecting Europe and Asia and operates a large international airport.
Minsk numbers nearly 1,8 million inhabitants. The urban area that includes about thirty satellite cities reaches 3 millions. Despite its size, it is a warm and soulful city with numerous sites to visit.
Minsk is known for its art and cultural achievements. Its first theaters and libraries were established in the middle of the 19th century. Now it has 11 theaters, 20 museums and 139 libraries.
Minsk is a green city. They say that hospitality and culture of a city are judged by the quantity and condition of city’s parks and gardens. There are 12 parks, 126 public gardens and a botanic garden in the Belarusian capital.
The city authorities place an emphasis on the promotion of physical culture and sports. There are over 3,500 sporting facilities that regularly host national and international competitions.
